There was a guy pushing cable then happened to come around d, and my wife and I were sitting outside watching the hummingbird male be a total dick to the females by changing them away from the feeder.
The guy did notice our no solicitation sign but Hollared from the sidewalk something about “Oh, you don’t want to hear me talk.” Or something like that, we replied “No, we’re good.”
He didn’t seem to be 100% there. But I’ll give it to him, he knows what a no solicitation sign means. I now need one that says No Heckling.

“Hi there folks! I couldn’t help but notice your no soliciting sign! Well you have a nice day now.”
“Honey, I’m building a moat.”

Just answer the door in a mumu with a 1/5 of gin in your hand. Word will get around to the door knockers.

Crazy lady on the other end of the cul de sac does this. They learn. We don’t get bothered much here. She also frequently loses her dog and drives around the neighborhood in her red C70 convertible with the roof down in the same mumu shouting “Barney!” Somehow, she is a lawyer.

We have lived at our current place for over a year and have had about 5, most of them were selling electricity (weird Illinois thing), our other house is in a better neighbor and has 3 churches within walking distance, we used to get at least one a week usually on Sundays.
The church people were the worst they never thought they were soliciting, so they ignored all of the signs lining the cul-de-sac.
That lady sounds awesome. I have a theory that people that have the ability to focus and dedicate themselves to something like law school always have at least one huge character flaw to balance that ability. I am glad she helps prove that.

I don’t know. In spite of the second line on this sign, they did, very much indeed, have the money to obtain it.

I found one on Amazon for only $11. I want it so bad. The description says it's for indoor use but everyone who has reviewed has put it on their door lol.

Fairly off topic, and rather late to the party, but I’ve had a male hummingbird pulling the exact same routine at my house all summer, until last night. He’d been camping on a tree overlooking the porch/feeder, and divebombing anyone who dared fly past the feeder, much less stop there. A couple females had started working in tandem ( I think), one would fly by to bait the male, and a second would go feed when the male was playing chase to the first. Then they’d switch up. Last night, the larger female finally had enough. Male came to chase her away, she turned and flew into him, then chased him off. I was still grinning when she returned and sat atop the feeder, noticed me on the porch, then flew directly at my face, inched closer a couple times almost in a “you want some too?” fashion, then returned to her roost on the feeder hanger. It was all I could do not to laugh and scare her off, to see something the size of my thumb puffing it’s chest out at me. I’m interested to see if the “alpha” shift is still in place this evening.

We first noticed them eariler in the year when the momma built a nest in a tree by the street. We think the two females are the mom & chick, teaming up to do the same thing. There are a set of Rose of Sharron bushes in the neighbor behind us property. They rotate between our feeder, next door feeder and the rose of sharron bushes. That dude is an ass.
